Affinity Water has now completed temporary works to maintain a consistent water supply for customers in Park Avenue North following the appearance of a sinkhole earlier this week.

The incident kicked off during Monday morning’s rush hour at around 8.20am, after the hole opened in Park Avenue North, and road closures were put in place while Affinity assessed the situation.

The area was made safe and secured to protect the public, and Affinity confirmed that the sinkhole is confined to the road and does not affect nearby properties.

Hertfordshire Highways has now taken over management of the site to carry out remedial works and fill the sinkhole. Once this work is complete, Affinity will return to complete permanent repairs to the water mains.
