Harpenden’s Katherine Warington School is set to host its inaugural Battle of the Bands on Wednesday March 19, inviting the local community to celebrate the talent, creativity and confidence of young musicians from schools across the area.
Running from 6-10pm at Katherine Warington School, the high-energy evening will see student bands perform live in front of an audience of peers, families and music lovers. The event is being delivered in association with Sir John Lawes School and the much-loved Harpenden Festival on the Field, with the aim of giving the night a vibrant festival atmosphere and a real sense of occasion.
The event is being organised by the Katherine Warington Association of Friends (KWAF), who are hoping the evening will become a highlight in the local cultural calendar and a springboard for the next generation of performers.
Chair Claire Toms said: “More than just a concert, the Battle of the Bands aims to provide young people with a platform to showcase their musical ability, gain invaluable live performance experience and build confidence in a supportive, celebratory environment.
“Adding to the excitement, two winning school bands will earn the opportunity to perform at the 2026 Harpenden Festival on the Field, offering a memorable and prestigious experience for any aspiring young musician.
“We are encouraging schools, families and members of the wider community to attend and support the performers, highlighting the powerful role a positive audience plays in inspiring young people and strengthening school arts communities.”
