St Albans Cathedral and other churches across St Albans and Harpenden are welcoming everyone to come and celebrate Easter with them.
At a time when many people are feeling anxious, unsure of the future and looking for signs of hope, Easter brings a message of new and abundant life – and a promise of light defeating darkness. Put simply, Easter means Love Wins.
Good Friday and Easter Sunday are two of the most important days in the Christian year. On Good Friday, Christians remember the death of Jesus Christ – God come down to live with humankind – on a cross. It was the one of the most painful and shameful ways to be
executed.
On Easter Day, we celebrate Christ coming back to life – to bring the promise of ‘life in all its fulness’ for those who follow him, with eternal life after death. It’s a day of great rejoicing and celebration in Christian communities across the world.
Here the St Albans Times publishes a round-up of more than 60 services – of all kinds – being held in local churches on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, with an invitation to attend any of them. Many churches are also ‘live-streaming’ their services for people unable to attend in person.
