Tickets sell out for next St Albans TEDx event in October

Tickets have now sold out for the TEDx St Albans event on October 16.

The second year of the speakers-driven conference is taking place at the Abbey Theatre, and features a wide variety of Herts names.

The theme for 2024 is ‘Curiosity’, the desire to understand, explore and research new ideas and opinions which could be different from your own.

Nathaniel Hawley, a passionate neurodiversity champion and advocate for individuals with learning differences, such as autism, will be giving a talk on AI and recruitment.

He said: “This event is an amazing opportunity to bring together bright minds and passionate individuals in our community. I can’t wait to discuss the importance of understanding neurodiversity and raising awareness about this crucial topic in my talk. I truly believe that the exchange of ideas at this event will spark new possibilities and contribute to the ongoing development of our vibrant community.”

Elizabeth Dalziel, a photojournalist whose work ranges from the coverage of war and breaking news to documentary photography, will focus on Picturing Menopause.

“TEDx St Albans will provide speakers with a space to spark curiosity on many important subjects. In my case, I hope to raise visibility on the menopause, which touches not only the lives of the women who experience it, but society as a whole, as everyone has got a mother, sister, a work colleague, a daughter, or someone close to them that will go through menopause. If you know what it looks like you can check the symptoms and try and find help for yourself or your loved ones.”

Susan Glenholme, managing partner from headline sponsor Debenhams Ottaway said: “Sponsoring TEDx St Albans is a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate with a partnership that aligns with our own culture and goals to spark conversation, connection and community.

“We always aim to be transparent and open in our communication and knowledge sharing, whilst promoting diversity, inclusivity, and integrity. I hope that Debenhams Ottaway’s sponsorship can help to bring a thought provoking and inspiring day to St Albans which brings different people together to entertain new thoughts, ideas and perspectives.”

TEDx St Albans co-organiser, Amy Burnett from Visible Impact said: “TEDx is all about ideas, community and impact, all things which I believe the population of St Albans feels passionately about. It’s an opportunity for local people to learn together and create positive change in their lives, along with those of others. I’m really excited that we are able to bring this event to the city, and am looking forward to our community working together to make it an amazing day.”

Fellow co-organiser co-organiser, Sarah Pascaru of Social Jooce added: “Bringing TEDx back to St Albans for a second year is an exciting opportunity to continue encouraging innovative thinkers to share their ideas and collaborate within our community. This event is a powerful platform for local people to exchange ideas, inspire one another, and drive positive change. I believe that TEDx St Albans will remain a cornerstone event, nurturing creativity and giving a voice to our local talent and beyond.”
