The Pioneer Club welcomes Blur drummer this November

Dave Rowntree

St Albans music fans are set for a memorable evening this November as Dave Rowntree, best known as the drummer of legendary Britpop band Blur, takes to the stage at The Pioneer Club.

He will be making a special live appearance on Thursday November 19 as part of his tour to promote his new book No-One You Know.

The event offers audiences a rare opportunity to spend an evening with one of British music’s most distinctive and multi-talented creative figures. Doors open at 7pm, with the show beginning at 8pm and an Indie music party atmosphere provided by DJs from regular Indie club night Common People. The event is open to all ages, with under-18s required to be accompanied by an adult.

As a founding member of Blur, Dave Rowntree helped shape the soundtrack of a generation. The band went on to become one of the UK’s most successful and influential acts, releasing nine studio albums, winning five BRIT Awards and selling millions of records worldwide. Their enduring popularity was demonstrated by two sold-out Wembley Stadium shows in 2023.

Yet music is only part of Dave’s remarkable story. Beyond Blur, he has built an extraordinary career spanning animation, law, politics, film and television composition, and even participation in the Beagle 2 Mars mission. His acclaimed solo album, Radio Songs, released in 2023, further showcased his diverse creative talents.

Pioneer music and commercial director Jon Prayer said: “His appearance at The Pioneer Club promises insight, stories and reflections from a life that has crossed some of Britain’s most influential cultural, political and technological landscapes. Fans of Blur, music lovers and anyone fascinated by creative careers will find plenty to enjoy during this unique evening. “

Dave will be on hand afterwards to sign any copies of the book, or other Blur merchandise, as the party continues in the bar with an indie disco courtesy of Common People.

Tickets are available here from £18 plus booking fee, and demand is expected to be strong for what promises to be one of the standout cultural events in St Albans this autumn.
