A sharply-written, laugh-out-loud comedy about love, life and everything in-between comes to the Abbey Theatre in October.
Darkly funny, poignant, yet heart-wrenchingly honest, The Harmony Test by acclaimed playwright Richard Molloy tells the story of two couples, one trying for a baby, the other teetering on collapse.
Newly-weds Zoe and Kash are in the throes of trying to become pregnant, navigating fertility calendars, supplements, strict diets and a punishing on-call regime for Kash. Their desperation leads them to consider a very dodgy conception aid indeed.
By contrast, their friends Naomi and Charlie have recently waved their only child off to university, and the dreaded empty nest syndrome threatens. Charlie suggests that Naomi fills the void with a hobby or gym membership, and into the dynamic comes ripped and gorgeous personal trainer Rocco.

It brings to life the everyday contradictions of human relationships, the characters are recognisable and flawed, and their humour masks deeper insecurities. Swinging between farce and tough realism, The Harmony Test gives audiences an emotionally astute exploration of domestic connection and control, and the unpredictable intersection of science, love and timing.

Performances are at 8pm on Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11, 2.30pm on Saturday October 11 and Sunday October 12, and 8pm on Tuesday October 14 to Saturday October 18. There is no performance on Monday October 13.
