St Albans-based Emmaus – the lifeline service providing shelter and meaningful work to get rough sleepers off the streets and back into society – is the charity partner at a family festival taking place this summer.
Magic Meadows is a one-day event taking place at Home Farm Glamping, Elstree, on July 26, run by a team of St Albans mums.
Emmaus will be hosting a creativity tent offering upcycling workshops and creative outlets for the visitors as well as encouraging them to bring furniture from home to upcycle on site.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “At Emmaus Hertfordshire, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to connect with our local community and raise awareness about the work we do to support people who have experienced homelessness. Magic Meadows is a wonderful celebration of nature, creativity, and community spirit – values that align closely with ours. We saw it as a fantastic opportunity to share our story, engage with families, and be part of a joyful, inclusive event that brings people together.
“We’ll be bringing a taste of Emmaus to Magic Meadows with a mosaic workshop, upcycling demonstrations and pop-up charity stall featuring unique, pre-loved and handcrafted treasures from our shops. Visitors can learn about our social enterprises, chat with members of our community, and get hands-on creating their own mosaic keepsakes. It’s a chance to discover how second-hand can be stylish, sustainable, and full of stories.”
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the charity: “We’re hoping to expand our community outreach and launch new upcycling workshops, all while continuing to grow our social enterprise. We’re also working on new partnerships and events to raise awareness and funds.
“Our St Albans site remains a vibrant hub where companions live, work, and support one another—and we’re always looking for new ways to involve the local community in our journey.”
