Silent discos at Cathedral welcome in the New Year

New Year's Eve silent disco at St Albans Cathedral

As the year came to an end where else could you expect to find Disney princesses, Paw Patrol pups, stiltwalkers and an army of St Albans parents strutting their stuff to the sounds of APT and K Pop Demon Hunters?

There have been plenty of silent discos at St Albans Cathedral in the past, but none quite like the family-focused event held on New Year’s Eve, which combined pick’n’mix sugar rushes with a cheeky afternoon vino, all accompanied by some floorfillers sure to appeal to the whole family.

Because the ageing staff of the St Albans Times are unlikely to make it past 10pm, let alone to midnight, we decided to join in with the madness and mark the end of 2025 with some tunes most mums and dads know the words to, but are unlikely to be heard belting out in the clubs on a Saturday night. (An alternative silent disco for over-18s took place in the evening),

Here’s to what was a surprisingly banging afternoon, and a final Happy New Year to all of our readers, advertisers, sponsors and contributors, because at the end of the day, we can’t do it without you!
