Just seven days before curtain up at Harpenden Gang Show

Harpenden Gang Show

Waiting eagerly in the wings of the Eric Morecambe Centre, the cast and crew of the Harpenden and Wheathampstead Gang Show are putting the final touches to their 76th Gang Show, which is returning to Harpenden in just seven days’ time.

A cast of 140 local Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers are ready to bring their signature sparkle and energy to the stage, all while raising vital funds for the Hertfordshire Scouting District between January 13-17.

Over its impressive local history, Harpenden Gang Show has involved more than 4,000 young people, supported by 100s of adult volunteers.

EMC theatre manager Kate Barton said: “Gang Show’s is a real hit with the local community. We are so glad to welcome the cast and crew back for an action-packed week here at the EMC. The young people really bring an electrifying energy to the theatre with catchy upbeat music, innovative dance routines and laugh out loud comedy. It’s a show not to miss!”

Show director Becca Leigh said: “Now that we’re rehearsing in the Eric Morecambe Centre, everything suddenly feels real and there is a real excitement that the show starts in only a week’s time! Being in the theatre has the cast super excited, bringing a fresh new energy to our final few rehearsals.

“Getting so close to the start of the show, I’ve also had quite a few people ask me about the surprise sections in the show this year. Whilst this is a closely guarded secret, we can’t wait to reveal all to the public and see the audience reactions to this ‘out of this world’ show. Don’t miss out on the final tickets available for our 76th show!”

And for those who might not have got tickets yet, there is still availability to get your hands on the last few select tickets here, with Tuesday and Wednesday the best time to snag a last-minute ticket.

Musical director Graham Thomson added: “Being in the venue this week has lifted everyone’s spirits. From being in the Crabtree Fields Scout hut with a piano and backing tracks to being in the theatre with the stage and acoustics has been such a transition. The cast’s energy has doubled and hearing the harmonies we have worked on over the weeks on stage during rehearsals is such a satisfying thing

“From my 28-year involvement in the show, this is always the best part of the process, as we finally see that the singing, music, and dance is all coming together. And we’ve got some real standout songs in the show this year – from Queen to Sugababes, there’s something in the show for everyone.”
