On the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the Company of Ten presents the story you didn’t see, and the fateful decisions that changed the world.
“How can the weather ever be boring?”
In the days and weeks leading up to the historic D-Day landings of World War II, a group of scientists and strategists from the allied forces were confined in one location planning the biggest operation of the conflict. If it was successful it would overthrow the enemy and put an end to the war. If it was a failure, tens of thousands of lives could be lost. One factor above all others was at the heart of the decision: the British weather.
Everything is in place for the invasion, but one question remains – will the weather be kind to the Allies on the day? Two forecasts: an American celebrity weatherman predicts sunshine, while a British meteorological officer for the Allied forces sees a storm ahead. General Eisenhower has to make the final decision to set in motion a course of events that cannot be stopped.

Although we know the outcome, David Haig’s brilliant, tense drama builds pressure to such an extent we feel we have a front row seat on those critical, decisive final moments before the invasion began.
