In pictures: Pub in the Park proves St Albans knows how to party!

The last festival of the summer was the biggest of them all, as Pub in the Park returned to St Albans for its fifth fantastic year.

Tom Kerridge’s music and food event packed out Verulamium Park between Friday and Sunday, with crowds enjoying artists including Tinie Tempah, Scouting for Girls, Olly Murs and Paloma Faith, chefs like Matt Tebbutt, Simon Rimmer and our own Phil Thompson, plus special guests Leigh Francis, Chris Stark, Angelica Bell, Sara Davies and Richard Herring.

Headliner battle of the bands winners Mike Miller, Rolo Vango, Matt McClafferty and Elena also appeared on the main stage alongside other top music acts like Stereo MCs, Noasis and Sinead Quinn.

There were plenty of memorable incidents from the weekend. Scouting for Girls frontman Roy Stride told a surprised Saturday audience how he once worked in St Albans Carphone Warehouse, Leigh Francis recalled the real life Keith Lemon and a torrential downpour on Sunday afternoon brought a pause to music on the main stage for fear of lightning strikes, meaning Red Dwarf’s Craig Charles was unable to perform his DJ set due to other commitments.
