More than 15,000 people flocked to Harpenden on Saturday for the annual Food and Drink Festival.
Food stalls ran through the High Street and Harpenden Common, offering fresh market-stall produce and an array of street food. Bar areas, ferret racing, outdoor community seating areas, DJs, a live Music Stage and the Children’s Zone added to the rest of the entertainment.
The Cookery Theatre demonstration stage featured talented guest chefs from local restaurants and bars including a cocktail masterclass from Harpenden’s premier cocktail mixologist Matt Dreyer of Bar Azita, and Daniel Fletcher, local favourite food and wine enthusiast from Vinsanto, who showed off recipes using fresh seasonal ingredients.
The crowds on the Common were treated to performances from duo cover band Leader, pop rock by ‘Number 7 and local favourites The Maida Vales on the music stage.
Harpenden Town Mayor, Cllr Fiona Gaskell said: “The Harpenden Food and Drink Festival presents an opportunity to enjoy some exceptional food and drinks in Harpenden’s wonderful town centre and Common, of which we are so proud. We were delighted that so many local businesses took part again this year together with a diverse range of entertainment. It is also always a real pleasure to welcome so many residents and visitors to this exciting Festival.”
