Eastertide, one of the two major festivals in the Christian calendar, was marked by St Albans Cathedral with a host of special services and events.
The Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans, said: “At the heart of the Easter story, in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the truth of love that is eternal. This is a truth that is for each of us, and for all creation. As we take this journey there is something for everyone here at St Albans Cathedral. You are always welcome here.”
As Lent came to an end, the preparations for Easter commenced with services on Palm Sunday – including a procession through the city centre featuring a live donkey – and Maundy Thursday.
The Journey with Jesus presented an immersive journey for children telling the story of the Last Supper, Gethsemane and Good Friday, and the Cathedral‘s Easter celebrations included the Easter Vigil, where more than 40 people were confirmed and baptisms were celebrated for a number of young people.
On Easter Monday, pilgrims young and old walked from across the diocese to celebrate at the Cathedral.
