Harpenden’s biggest photography exhibition returns for 90th anniversary

YOU GO FIRST, WE WILL FOLLOW!

Harpenden Photographic Society will be marking its 90th anniversary with the return of its annual exhibition – a highlight of the town’s arts and culture calendar.

This year’s event takes place at High Street Methodist Church from 10am-4pm on Saturday April 25, and showcases around 200 stunning photographic prints from the society’s talented members.

The collection features diverse work including landscapes, macro photography, street scenes, abstracts and nature imagery – with numerous award- winning images on display, many captured in and around Harpenden.

To mark its milestone anniversary, HPS has created an exclusive 200-page coffee table book featuring beautiful imagery from members, the history of the society, and key milestones in the 200 year history of photography.

The book will be available for purchase at the event (£60) and includes a complimentary year-long membership to HPS for the 2026–27 season—making it a wonderful gift for any photography lover.

The exhibition welcomes visitors of all ages and interests. Throughout the day, HPS members will be on hand to chat about the society, answer questions about membership, and welcome those keen to learn more.

As tradition dictates, visitors are invited to vote for their three favourite images, with the photographer of the most popular print receiving a trophy at the society’s annual awards.

HPS Cchair Steve Collins LRPS BPE3 said: “We’re very excited to be bringing the exhibition back to the High Street Methodist Church. With around 200 incredible images on display, there’s something here for everyone – and it’s completely free to attend.”
