The countdown has begun to this year’s St Albans Pancake Festival, which will be making a triumphant return to St Peter’s Street on Shrove Tuesday, March 4.
Now in its ninth year, the event is organised by local children’s charity, Home-Start Hertfordshire, in collaboration with Hertfordshire’s Business Buzz.
Last year, the festival raised £5,534, contributing to supporting local families facing vulnerabilities and in need of assistance, helping them navigate and overcome their challenges.
There will be a mix of walking and running pancake flipping races in teams of four. Teams must be pre-booked in advance, with a maximum of two teams per organisation.
Liz Le Coze, business development manager at Home-Start Hertfordshire, said: “We are thrilled to be back on the streets of St Albans for the ninth year! The pancake race is going from strength to strength; it is such a fantastic event which brings the community together. We are delighted to be inviting everyone to take part in the races and to join the excitement!”
This year’s headline sponsors are SA Law, and partner Marilyn Bell, head of the family team, said: “SA Law are delighted to be sponsoring this fantastic local event once again, to champion the significant support Home-Start Herts provides to families in Hertfordshire. If you’ve not entered a race team before, now is your chance! We hope everyone enjoys the buzzing atmosphere and friendly competition – all for a brilliant cause.”
Registration is at 11.30am and the races start at 12 noon. Book early to enjoy an early bird entry fee of £55 per team of four, (£70 after January 31). There are a limited number of free team entries for charities. Reserve your team now: www.pancake.events
