SustFest23 will feature a host of events focussed on energy efficiency measures for residents and businesses as the increase in energy bills sparks a new wave of sustainable activity.
Several events at the annual festival in June are designed to give ideas and information on reducing our energy usage, including a Warm Homes workshop, a visit to a Victorian eco house or an online session to learn how to retrofit your home for energy efficiency.
The annual Sustainability Festival runs for 10 days through June and is organised by local environment charity Sustainable St Albans. This award-winning festival features an exciting range of over 50 events and activities to encourage everyone to consider sustainable living and connecting with nature: many events are free.
SustFest is running in association with The Great Big Green Week, a national event managed by the Climate Coalition, meaning SustFest’s message of community collaboration will reach a bigger audience than ever before.
The festival will launch at the St Albans Cathedral Community Showcase event on Saturday June 10. Members of the festival team will be on hand to highlight the programme to visitors and share sustainable ideas in panel discussions. Community groups, businesses and faith groups across the area will then host nine days of events until June 18.
SustFest events give a new perspective on the climate emergency, inspiring change through fun, informative and engaging activities.
The programme celebrates those already living more sustainably and encourages those who are just starting on a sustainability journey. You could learn how to fix your broken items at the Repair Fair, giving a second chance to anything from electrical items to clothing & fabric repairs. Come to one of the pre-loved fashion shows and pick up some new trends without impacting the planet. Enjoy getting your hands dirty by weeding and picking at a community food garden.

The Sustainability Festival is brought together by volunteers from the local environmental charity, Sustainable St Albans.
