Stars align as the Company of Ten presents Constellations, a captivating play that takes audiences on a mesmerising journey through the cosmos of human connection.
This out-of-this-world production opens at the Abbey Theatre Studio in October.

So says physicist Marianne in Nick Payne’s acclaimed Constellations, winner of the 2022 Olivier Award for Best Revival with last year’s Donmar Warehouse production of the play.
Constellations tracks the multi-layered romantic relationship of Roland, a beekeeper and Marianne, a physicist who brings poetic beauty to cosmology, quantum mechanics, string theory and the belief that multiple universes pull people’s lives in various directions.
Played by real life couple James Douglas and Lucy Crick, Roland and Marianne discover that being in love, like soaring through the universe, is terrifying and exhilarating all at once.
Director Chris Bramwell explained: “Nick Payne’s dialogue is naturalistic and the great joy of directing in the Studio, setting it ‘in the round’ is that actors can talk to each other in a realistic way.
“There have been interesting challenges, such as giving the audience the sense of the ‘other-wordly’, while balancing that with intense and emotional dialogue. We have original music composed for the production and an inventive lighting design, both of which help in transitioning between scenes.”
The show promises an unforgettable evening of drama that will leave you contemplating the stars and the infinite possibilities of life and love.
Performances take place in the Abbey Theatre Studio from Friday 6 – Saturday October 7 at 8pm, Sunday October 8 at 2.30pm and Tuesday 10 – Saturday October 14 at 8pm.
