The Collective Art Gallery’s latest exhibition, ‘Biophilia’, features a diverse collection of art by their resident artists celebrating the beauty, complexity and symbolism of plants, exploring our intrinsic desire to be surrounded by living things or their artistic representations.
The exhibition takes place at 18 Holywell Hill from July 11-August 15, and alongside the artworks, will play host to a pop-up plant shop by indoor plant specialists and RHS Chelsea Gold Winners Happy Houseplants, offering a selection of living plants for sale.
BBC presenter and local author Sarah Gerrard-Jones (pictured), also known on Instagram as ‘The Plant Rescuer,’ will be a guest speaker on Saturday July 13 at 3pm, hosting a Q & A on everything plants, so if you have a question about what plants to put where or you have a sick house plant, she will be able to help.
With almost half a million Instagram followers, Sarah has a beautiful way of engaging her audience with her infectious love of plants.
The artworks showcased in ‘Biophilia’ will celebrate plants and botanical life in various mediums and styles. Expect to see paintings, sculptures, prints, photography, and mixed-media pieces that highlight the diverse forms and symbolism of plants.
Happy Houseplants will create a pop-up shop of plants, as a backdrop to the art, creating an immersive environment alongside the artworks, providing visitors with the opportunity to purchase living plants, many of which will be featured in the artworks.
