Harpenden’s premier outdoor art fair returns this weekend with over 60 local artists exhibiting across the two-day event while fundraising for Cancer Research.
Established over 30 years ago, Art on the Common takes place in a tree-lined section of Harpenden Common near the town centre.
The perfect occasion to browse and buy amazing, affordable art, the two-day event showcases the very best of the county’s artistic talent including a range of paintings, ceramics, fine art photography, sculpture, jewellery, glass and wood. All styles and genre are displayed, and with prices starting from £2 for handmade greeting
cards there’s sure to be something beautiful for everyone.
The event coincides with the Harpenden Summer Carnival on Saturday, making it a fun day out for all the family, and the timing is perfect to pick up something special for Father’s Day.
The charitable exhibition is organised by Harpenden Photographic Society in conjunction with Cancer Research UK. All proceeds from exhibitor pitch fees and a percentage sales commission on all art sold goes to Cancer Research UK. In the last three years alone Art on the Common has raised £17k for Cancer Research UK.
Event organiser, Liz Thompson said: “This year, for the first time, we have some artists who are exhibiting for one day only enabling us to support even more local artists, over 60 in total, so we can include a spectacular range of art from established and much-loved artists, as well as supporting new and up-coming talent.
“So, whether your particular desire is for painting and wall art, decorative glass, ceramics, fine art photography, sculpture or jewellery; or exploring the possibility of joining our local art or photography clubs; or even just enjoy a visually-exciting stroll, come along to Art on the Common on June 8 and 9.”
The exhibition runs from 10am-5pm on Saturday, and 11am-5pm Sunday.
