Work moving forwards on council development schemes

Jubilee Square will officially open at the end of July.

District council leader Cllr Paul de Kort has revealed that the official opening of Jubilee Square will take place later this month.

In a report to the full council meeting taking place this week, he confirmed that the sale to Watford Community Housing Trust completed on June 26.

Cllr de Kort said: “Thirty-three of the flats will become homes for St Albans district residents at social rent levels. The council is in discussions with tenants at Telford Court and the properties have been advertised to people on the council’s Housing Register.

“The remaining 60 flats will be made available for sale on a shared ownership basis through Watford Community Housing Trust. The fencing will come down ahead of the official opening which is currently being planned for later in July.”

Meanwhile, the sale of Harpenden Public Halls is moving ahead with SADC’s preferred bidder and the capital receipt for that sale is expected later in 2024/25.
