World Book Day visit to Colney Heath School by children’s author

Lou Treleaven visited Colney Heath School for World Book Day

Pupils at Colney Heath School enjoyed a World Book Day with a difference thanks to a special visit from children’s author Lou Treleaven.

Lou hosted an interactive session for a group of nursery and reception pupils, who had the chance to engage in various fun activities, including story reading with props and puppets, craft based activities, drawing their favourite toy and learning new songs.

The event was organised by house builder Tayor Wimpey South Midlands, who also donated £250 to help expand the school’s library collection.

Headteacher Anne Clark said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Lou Treleaven to our school for World Book Day. The children were captivated by her storytelling, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for the tasks. We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey South Midlands for organising the visit, as well as for their generous monetary donation, which has been put to good use in purchasing brand new books for our library. We just know this will ensure our pupils have access to wonderful books for many years to come”

Sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, Fiona Lloyd added: “We’re passionate about giving back to the communities where we build, and encouraging a love of reading from an early age is something we’re proud to support.  It was fantastic to see the children at Colney Heath Primary so engaged with Lou’s stories, and we hope this experience helps to inspire a lifelong love of books.”
