St Albans High School for Girls and St Albans School have announced the return of the Joint Schools’ Choral Society and Orchestra Concert for 2024.
The Joint Schools’ Choral Society and Orchestra has been running for 54 years and brings together students, staff, parents and friends from both schools, all connected by a passion for music.
The two schools are delighted to be returning to St Albans Cathedral on Wednesday (March 13), when they will be performing Rutter’s Magnificat and Fauré’s Requiem, conducted by STAHS director of music Emma Price.
Emma said: “All of the musicians involved have spent the last three months working incredibly hard to prepare for the concert.
“Both the Rutter and Fauré are two of this country’s most popular choral works, famous for their catchy melodies, expressive and dramatic moments and sonorous solos.”
St Albans School’s acting director of music, Tom Young, added: “The concert is one of the highlights of the school’s musical year. This important event brings together a wealth of musical talent and enthusiasm, including some outstanding musicians from both schools, and provides a unique opportunity for pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community to enjoy music together in the Cathedral.”
