As the city gears up for the festive season, Christopher Place has revealed major plans for the months ahead.
The shopping centre will be undergoing its biggest redevelopment since opening in the 1980s.
The defunct snooker bar in Upper Dagnall Street is set to be transformed into a bar and restaurant, with a new footway to be created in the corner of the centre until recently occupied by French Connection.
This will provide access to the venue from Christopher Place as well as Upper Dagnall Street, with revamped retail outlets either side.
Centre manager Catherine Morris said: “We are hugely excited about this fabulous development, which promises to bring something truly special to Christopher Place and St Albans.
“But before that happens we’re looking forward to an amazing Christmas, with our gorgeous decorations going up soon!”
As part of the festivities, pop-up shop MishMash is returning for another Christmas, and the centre is counting down to the big day by releasing a hilarious promotional video.
Unfortunately salad bar Leafy has closed its doors, with owners Oliver and Johanna Zissman citing personal reasons for the move.
An announcement on social media and the shop front stated: “It’s been an incredible few years, but it’s taken its toll on our personal life significantly and this very tough decision is what’s best for our family.
“We want to say a massive thank you to the over 85,000 customers who chose to visit us, enjoying over 45,000 salads and over 42,000 coffees. We will miss serving you all.”
Catherine added: “It’s very sad to say goodbye to Leafy, and I’d like to thank Oliver, Johanna and their team for being a part of the centre over the past few years. I wish them all the very best for the future.”
