Acclaimed local singer-songwriter Sinéad Quinn is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her album ‘Ready to Run’ with a one-off gig at The Horn on November 16.
The self-written album was originally released in July 2003 on Mercury Records, coming in the wake of her debut single I Can’t Break Down peaking at number two.
She explained why she’s decided to revisit it now: “A few people who are massive fans of the album had been in touch saying you must do something to mark the anniversary. At first I thought, oh I don’t know if I really want to sing something that I wrote when I was 23 or 22, but then I had a listen back.
“I realised it’s a really great pop record, all the songs stand up and some of it is a bit relevant lyric-wise now. So I thought, it’ll be really fun, a bit of nostalgia. I asked some guys if they’d play in the band and they were like, ‘Oh my God, we’d love to!’, and there’s been quite a nice response to it, so it’ll just be a one-off, really fun night.”
She also wanted to give back something special to the St Albans music community as well.
“I love St Albans, I love how much live music is promoted and supported in this town. I mean, you know, every single place in this town, every pub in this town, they’ve got such a following who support live music, they support original music and it’s just a great music town, isn’t it?”
She will be supported on the night by local duo Katie-plus-Juan. For tickets to the show visit www.thehorn.co.uk/full-listings/sinead-quinn
