Not-for-profit radio station Mix 92.6 has been shortlisted in three categories in the national Community Radio Awards 2023.
These prestigious industry awards recognise the best in community radio from around the UK.
Mix 92.6 has been shortlisted in the ‘best sports show’, ‘best coverage of a live event’ and ‘best specialist content’ categories.
The shortlisted programmes include the weekly Parents Show, which covers topics of interest to parents-to-be, new parents and parents of young and teenage children and has included advice on everything from choosing a school to learning difficulties and physical and mental health.
Two sports programmes are shortlisted too. The live coverage of the St Albans City playoff final against Oxford United and the weekly ‘Local Sports Mix’ which covers a wide range of local amateur and professional sport have both received the accolade of being in the final five before the gold, silver and bronze awards in each category are announced at a gala event in
Newcastle on November 4.
Mix 92.6 now broadcasts live match commentary from all St Albans City FC men’s matches and hopes to soon expand to the women’s game too.
Sports producer Jonny Seabrook said: “Loving Local Sport means getting underneath the stories and featuring the full breadth of local sport across our area.”
Producer of the Parents Show Lydia El Khouri said: “I’m so delighted that our team’s hard work covering the subjects that matter to parents has been recognised in this way.”
Mix 92.6 programme controller Andy Waterfield added: “I am really thrilled for the station, our listeners and our production and presentation teams that we have been shortlisted in these three categories.”
