Snapper Toby Shepheard – a regular contributor to the St Albans Times – enjoyed a day’s work experience with a leading political photographer.
He spent the time with Stefan Rousseau, chief political photographer with The Press Association, after meeting him at a talk in Wanstead.
Toby explained how the day unfolded: “We met up in Westminster and had a coffee talking about the job and getting to know him before heading over to the Houses of Parliament and he showed me around the houses and The Press Association office in the building which he has a desk at and had lunch in Portcullis House.
“He is one of very few photographers to have a pass to the Houses of Parliament even though photography isn’t allowed in the House itself.
“Afterwards we headed down to Downing Street to see a petition being delivered by Dimensions UK demanding equal pay for care and support workers within the NHS. We also saw Chancellor Jeremy Hunt leave Number 11.
“It was the last day before the parliamentary recess for Party conferences so was a quiet day around Westminster but still a very cool opportunity.”
