The beautiful surroundings of Kingsbury Barn in St Michael’s village played host to an exhibition of work by five local artists.
The recent event featured art by Stuart Beck, Kathy Evershed, Jayne Evans, Ben East and Jenny Robinson.
Stuart said afterwards: “There was something a little bit different about this art exhibition. It began with kindness from the owners, allowing us to make use of such an amazing building to exhibit our art work. In return we were siimply asked to make a donation to charity.
“It is special for most new visitors when first entering the barn. The high cathedral-like ceiling and long history make quite an impact and even more so for this group of artists, faced with the mouthwatering prospect of visualising their artwork on show in such an amazing space.
“Even more added generosity came to get the word out, from the likes of Matt Adams (St Albans Times) and Elly O’Meara (Mix 92.6), a big thanks to them amongst others.
“A really important element for the show was the coming together of the right artists, with a great mix of work that would be interesting for the audience.
“This seasoned group of artists came together in a collaboritive effort, full of enthusiasm, hard work and creative passion. We all agreed that this was nothing of the overstaged, impersonal art shows we’ve endured in the past. There was a genuine enthusiasm for each others work and an enjoyment shared with all those visiting the show.
“We sold our work that is our passion, danced throughout the days to the fabulous mix of beats by DJ Ben East and celebrated the art, the setting and the vibe with our local community and supporting family and friends.
They say life is what you make of it and this weekend life was definitely made sweet.”
