Passengers travelling on a bus along Hatfield Road have reported that it was shot at by a gang of youths.
The incident happened on Sunday night at around 8pm on route 602 near to the Morrisons supermarket.
Around 16 people were on the bus at the time – fortunately no one was injured – but damage was caused to two of the windows of the bus. It is unclear at this time what exactly hit the bus.
Police quickly attended the scene and began a search of the area for a group of males that witnesses claimed were in the location at the time. An extensive search was undertaken, and numerous lines of enquiry were followed up, however the suspects are still outstanding.
Det Insp Mike Ball said: “This would have been a very frightening incident for all of those people on the bus and luckily no one was hurt. We believe this was an isolated incident, and we continue to follow up further lines of enquiry. This kind of behaviour is completely irresponsible and dangerous, and we are working hard to identify and apprehend those involved.
“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and who has not yet spoken to officers, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
