The UK’s leading foot reader reveals the secrets of the sole…
Following in the literal footsteps of royalty and reality TV stars isn’t something you do every day, but how could I turn down an invitation to analyse my personality traits and emotions through the examination of my feet?
By studying foot and toe shapes and blemishes, Jane Sheehan can determine these features either in person or via photographs, and uses her skills as a tool for self-development.
In the past she has provided an insight into the feet of the Kardashian and Jenner women, contestants on Love Island, and royals including Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Zara Tindall, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Princess Diana.
Now she is set to reveal her secrets in a series of special workshops taking place in Wheathampstead this weekend.
Jane explained: “We are all used to changing our facial expressions and hiding our true feelings, but we can’t do that with our feet – they tell the truth.
Simply by analysing the shapes of feet and toes, we can tell an awful lot about a person.
“Anyone coming to my workshops will not only learn something of use to their clients, but also learn about themselves via their feet.
“They love hearing the anecdotes I use to illustrate the points and they love applying the knowledge to their own life story and often during the classes there are moments where you can see the students moved to delight when they realise that the blemish I’m interpreting also relates to a long term client of theirs and gives them an insight that will help progress their treatment.”
Jane, who is a regular on ITV’s This Morning, has also featured on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two. Her book, Let’s Read Our Feet, is a number one best seller on Amazon.
She has been teaching her skills to reflexologists and other therapists for over 20 years, providing an additional skill to holistic therapists in order to help them work with clients at a new level of understanding.
Jane also sees many individuals attending her classes in order to develop a deeper self-awareness and make changes and improvements in their own well-being.
Jane said anyone attending one of her workshops can expect to holistically enhance their knowledge by learning an unusual skill that will allow them to consider their own personal development and growth from a completely unexpected source whilst having lots of fun and insights about themselves in the process.
Her forthcoming show takes place in the meeting room of the No 1 Bra Room, York House, 5 Place Farm, in Wheathampstead. Tickets are available from
Apologies if you’re having your breakfast while reading this and are suddenly confronted with the sight of my size 9s, but Jane offered to provide an analysis of my trotters after studying two different photos ahead of her workshops…
She also explained what indications she spotted to determine her findings.
Anyone who knows me can judge how accurate she is…

“You are highly visual. You like to picture things in your head before you come to do them so that by the time you come to do them, you feel like you have done it already. It’s a great skill to have… when you use it positively! (Tip of big toe is lifted even though the pad is touching the floor)
“You are sensitive but hide the fact through deflection.
“If we hit a nerve with you, you will change the subject, or crack a joke, to throw us off the fact that we hit that nerve. (Hairy toes prominent on all toes)
“But for you it’s more about when they criticise your ideas or touch on your feelings. (Your hairy toes are mainly prominent on big toe and second toe)
“You think a lot but you aren’t saying half what you are thinking. (Big toe is much wider on the toe pad and much narrower on the neck)
“Having said that, you are very expressive about everything else. (All the other toes have long straight necks that are also visible underneath)
“When it comes to what you are doing, you are very adaptable. You know when to hold back and when to push forward and how to bide your time until the time is right. (deep permanent crease on top joint of third toe)
“You have natural leadership qualities but if you aren’t in a leadership role, you can become bossy! (Elongated second toe)
“You have extra drive and determination that you can do twice as much as the next person given the same time and resources. (elongated third toe) Imagine that – a leader who doesn’t want to delegate! There’s your life challenge.
“I’m going to tie that up with something I saw on the side of your foot. You currently have an issue about a lack of support to do with your working life or what you are doing and there is friction about it and you are coming off worst. (Blister on medial edge of foot below ball of foot).
“You are unconventional, rebellious, my way or the highway! (Little toe on its side)
It hasn’t always been this way, but currently your main concerns are to do with family/private life situation (lots of wrinkles showing on lower instep on left foot but not on right foot).
“As a reflexologist I would question whether your diet is the best (swollen “stomach reflex” below ball of foot on upper instep below big toe and second toe).
“In terms of your plans for the future and how you are going to move forward and take the next steps, I have no concerns for you. You don’t have any obstacles that you perceive to be stopping you from putting your plans into action (no cracks on heels). But I do think that in the past you were fed up about your sense of security and plans for the future (yellow heel right foot) but now you’ve resolved that (colour better on left foot).
“You have big shoulders for other people to cry on. You are a good listener (area below little toe, side of ball of foot, sticks out quite a bit – this is the shoulder reflex in reflexology).
“That’s your foot reading!”
