St George’s School in Harpenden is celebrating a record breaking year of A Level achievements, with Year 13 pupils fulfilling the school’s motto to “aim higher”.
This year group saw 20 per cent of all entries given the top A* grade and approximately half of all grades were awarded at A* or A.
The school achieved a 100 per cent pass rate (A-E) across all 196 students in the cohort. There were some wonderful individual successes, with ten students achieving a clean sweep of three or more A grades, and a further 14 pupils securing two A*s alongside A grades. Most importantly, these grades allowed pupils to progress on their educational journey, be that going to university or on to an apprenticeship placement.
Headteacher Andy Ford said: “We are really very proud of our Year 13 students. These results reflect their incredible hard work, alongside the unwavering support of our teaching staff and families.
“More importantly, this year group has contributed to the life of St George’s in so many ways over the last years. They have done amazing things on the sports field, on the stage and in their day-to-day leadership of the school. Whether they are going on to an apprenticeship, to university, or taking a break from study, we wish them every success as they take their next steps.”
