St Albans-based Amthal Fire & Security is helping nursery providers consider how CCTV can support safeguarding, with the launch of a new campaign focused on the sensitive requirements of early years settings.
With 25 years of experience delivering fire and security systems, Amthal is using its knowledge to help nursery providers understand where CCTV could complement existing safeguarding arrangements, while taking account of privacy, data protection and the needs of children, staff and families.
The Protecting What’s Precious campaign recognises how CCTV in a nursery environment requires careful consideration. Rather than viewing cameras as a standalone security measure, Amthal is encouraging providers to look at how systems can form part of a wider safeguarding approach.
For nursery leaders, this includes considering where CCTV could provide additional visibility, how footage should be accessed and managed, and how systems can be designed around the individual layout and requirements of each setting.

Where CCTV is considered appropriate, Amthal can support nursery providers with system design and installation, alongside guidance around camera positioning, access permissions, data protection and the secure management of recorded footage.
The company works with technology partners including Dahua to provide CCTV solutions tailored to the requirements of individual settings.
