With the nation in the midst of a heatwave, an enterprising group of Harpenden youngsters saw an opportunity – to raise money for Children In Need.

The fantastic five, Tia, Lucy, Stanley, Maisie and Amar, united to run their very own lemonade stand – even freshly making the lemonade themselves.

It was a real team effort. Tia said, “We were out playing when Stanley came up with the idea. I already knew how to make lemonade and Lucy had some lemons.”

Impressively, the friends even devised a marketing strategy; making and delivering flyers advertising the sale to their neighbours. One lucky household even got a Willy Wonka inspired golden ticket, winning them a free lemonade!

As word spread across the neighbourhood WhatsApp group, the event became a roaring success: with sales, tip jar, and subsequent donations combined, the gang made an impressive £156.88 for their chosen charity.

Tia said the young entrepreneurs were all “happy and proud” of their efforts. And were especially delighted when one satisfied customer asked for a refill.

After such a successful first outing, the team have plans to make it an annual event. And who knows – perhaps this is the birth of the next big soft drink brand. Watch this space!
