It’s almost a week since Summer Sounds returned to The Maltings Shopping Centre for its second year, and the dust has only just begun to settle after a vibrant celebration of music, shopping and community spirit.
Visitors enjoyed an evening of free live entertainment, late-night shopping, delicious street food and a welcoming atmosphere as retailers, performers and independent businesses joined forces to create a memorable summer event in the very heart of the city.
The evening featured live performances from Grace George, Brilliant Theatre Academy, Flabba and Pat and the Butchers, alongside DJs and special guest appearances from Fiona Flange and Vikki Vivacious, providing entertainment throughout the night.
Food and drink vendors including Lime Face, Waffle Wands, Craft & Cleaver, Chai Stall, Banquet Inn and Fade to Black helped keep visitors refreshed, while many retailers extended their opening hours and offered exclusive promotions, competitions and experiences for customers.
The event also supported local youth mental health charity Youth Talk, with the Youth Talk Prosecco Bar and fundraising activities helping to raise valuable funds to support free counselling services for young people across St Albans and the surrounding area.
Centre Manager Richard Marrett said: “Summer Sounds is all about bringing people together, supporting our businesses and creating an event the whole community can enjoy. It was wonderful to see families, friends and visitors spending the evening together, enjoying fantastic live entertainment and experiencing everything The Maltings has to offer.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who performed, traded, volunteered and visited to help make the evening such a success, while also supporting the fantastic work of Youth Talk.”
Summer Sounds forms part of The Maltings’ ongoing programme of free community events, designed to support businesses, encourage visitors and create memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.
