A man in his 20s from St Albans has been issued a five-year Sexual Risk Order (SRO) to help protect women and girls.
The order was granted to Herts police at St Albans Magistrates Court following a previous interim SRO.
The order means that the man is prohibited from approaching unknown women or girls in a way that causes harassment, alarm or distress.
Additionally the order bans him from entering or loitering outside residential properties without a valid reason.
However, many members of the public wanted to know why the man had not been described or named by Herts police.
The St Albans Times sought further information from the Constabulary and was told: “We have released information about a civil order to show some of the actions we can take against individuals who a court has decided, on the balance of probability, may be at risk of offending.
“We have released a proportionate amount of information given specific circumstances of the case.
“The policing of the order is being managed by officers and it is deemed not necessary to identify the individual for that to take place.
“While members of the public have a right to be concerned, the man is currently not residing in Hertfordshire, and our officers are liaising with the local force where he currently lives to ensure the order is policed effectively.”
