We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: Alexandra Standley, award-winning personal stylist, TEDx speaker and sustainable fashion consultant – see alexandrastandley.co.uk
Where do you walk when you want to think?
I go for a walk every morning (when my schedule allows!) to Clarence Park which is round the corner from my house. It’s so beautiful and gives me the headspace to think clearly surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers.
Where do you go to listen to music?
I’m very lucky I’m a regular to gigs at Wembley, I’m excited to be seeing Harry Styles and Bruno Mars this year. Coldplay and Oasis last year. It’s always such an incredible atmosphere and one of the few nights out I get these days!
What’s your favourite place to have breakfast in St Albans?
I love The Potting Shed at Carpenters Nursery. The breakfast and lunches are amazing and often have business meetings there over a coffee too. It’s a beautiful setting especially in the summer.
Where do you buy your coffee in St Albans?
My husband and I love Viento. We both love supporting local businesses as often as we can, and being self confessed coffee snobs we think this is one of, if not the, best coffee in town!
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Thirty-five, which I don’t think is too bad considering I was a footwear buyer for six years!
Odyssey or Netflix?
Odyssey always, no brainer! We are so lucky to have such an incredible cinema in town, I love unique settings.
Who was your favourite cartoon character as a kid?
Sonic comes to mind for me! I used to play Sonic the Hedgehog video games as a kid too!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little I wanted to be a vet, then I realised I was too much of a softy, and science wasn’t my strong point. Another one was sports journalist, before finally settling on fashion buyer!
Where would be your preferred place locally to get married?
We got married at Luton Hoo which was incredible, it is such a beautiful venue and held meaning for us as my dad lived locally growing up, and used to go to young farmers meetings at the coach house which is now the spa!
Who is your favourite St Albans musician or band?
Kate Lindeman (pictured below) is absolutely amazing, her voice is so beautiful. She was also the first photographer I worked with on my business for my first personal branding shoot back in 2021, so she is multi-talented!
