The Pioneer Club in St Albans has announced its participation in the Everywhere At Once festival this summer.
Taking place on what would have been the Glastonbury Festival weekend of June 26 to 28, hundreds of grassroots music venues across the country will unite under the banner of Everywhere At Once for the UK’s largest festival.
The Pioneer will host a comedy show with local Instagram sensation Bron Com, headliner Alisdair Beckett-King, supported by the best in upcoming comedy acts. The event will be an early evening show to accommodate the England match later that kicks off at 10pm.
Organised by Music Venue Trust, the charity that supports grassroots music venues, and powered by The National Lottery, the festival will celebrate the grassroots network that British music is built on – the places where artists first step on the stage, where Glastonbury headliners hone their craft, and where communities have access to local and affordable live music.
Music and commercial director at The Pioneer Club Jon Prayer said: “We are proud and excited to be a part of a national campaign that highlights grassroots venues and the key part the play in the music and creative ecosystem.
“Having the Everywhere At Once festival across the country is a great idea, and a key part of any festival is comedy, hence the idea of having a comedy show at Pioneer.
“We’re looking forward to hosting headline acts along with upcoming comedians, all held together with the St Albans-based glue that is Bron.
“We’ve decided to have an earlier start to the show as there’s an England game on following the show so our thinking is that if you have a young family then you can both tag in and out if you need to, one person can come along and have a laugh and then the other can come out later and catch the football.”
