Town Mayor Cllr Beth Fisher spent several hours walking around this year’s Harpenden Photographic Society exhibition, talking to members and examining their pictures.
Hundreds of visitors attended Saturday’s event at High Street Methodist Church, which showcased around 200 stunning photographic prints from the society’s talented members.
The collection featured diverse work including landscapes, macro photography, street scenes, abstracts and nature imagery – with numerous award- winning images on display, many captured in and around Harpenden.
On sale on the day was a 200-page book marking the society’s 90th anniversary, featuring imagery from members, the history of the society, and key milestones in the 200 year history of photography.
HPS chair Steve Collins LRPS BPE3 said: “This year’s photographic exhibition was a tremendous success, marking a special milestone as Harpenden Photographic Society celebrated its 90th anniversary. The feedback has been glowing, with many visitors calling it our finest event yet.
“More than attendance figures, we were struck by the exceptional energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. We’re particularly proud of our volunteer team, the enhanced quality of our members images, and the meaningful conversations that took place.
“The exhibition also included heartfelt tributes to two cherished members, Anne Marie Smith and Iain Fry, who sadly passed away this season. We were also honoured by the attendance of Harpenden Mayor, Cllr Beth Fisher, who spent more than two hours browsing the exhibition and engaging with our members about their work.”
