We ask a different figure from the local community to choose 10 questions to answer from a list of 50. This week: Phoebe Shergold-Willis, founder and managing director of SASA School of Performing Arts.
Where do you walk when you want to think?
Clarence Park! It was my go-to place to walk during lockdown and has been ever since.
Where do you go to listen to music?
EVERYWHERE! I grew up with music playing all the time in the house, and being from a family of performers and now running my own performing arts businesses, music is never not playing.
What’s the first thing you do after you’ve woken up in the morning?
Do the washing up…don’t have a dishwasher… t-minus five weeks until I move into a house with a dishwasher!
What items do you always carry with you?
Deodorant, SASA flyers, portable phone charger and my big bottle of water…I even take it to go to Tesco!
How often do you check your phone?
Unfortunately way too much. My businesses and my work life are based on WhatsApp groups, voicenotes and phone calls… wish I could switch off from it more!
Were you well behaved at school?
I was a goodie-two-shoes! Always been a people pleaser until recently!
If you could travel back in time and offer your younger self some advice, what would it be?
Put yourself, your wants and your needs first. You deserve to be just as happy as the people you make happy.
Do you speak any foreign languages?
I spent 18 months of my younger life living in the South of France in the Pyrenees. So I am completely fluent in French. We lived in a very rural part of France where no English was spoken and I had to go to a French school!
What was your first job?
If we scroll back to the age of eight…I started my own kids’ party entertainment business…does that count?
What’s your favourite place to have breakfast in St Albans?
Brad and Dills. Every day Brad and Dills.
