Swing into spring with the Tim Boniface Jazz Quartet

Tim Boniface Jazz Quartet

Expect joyful onstage interaction and stunning individual skill as this band of some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians play their way through a delightfully swinging repertoire.

Following sell-out concerts at St Albans Cathedral in 2024 and 2025 (under Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon) and the acclaimed worldwide release of their 2025 album, the Tim Boniface Jazz Quartet return to the Cathedral on February 21 for a concert of jazz classics as the year turns towards spring.

You can look forward to exquisite tunes like ‘It Might As Well Be Spring’ and ‘Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most’, plus swinging favourites like ‘Joy Spring’ alongside fresh arrangements and superb original music in the classic jazz vein.

Performing alongside Tim Boniface will be a remarkable trio of some of the most respected names in British jazz – James Pearson, masterful pianist extraordinaire and artistic director of the renowned Ronnie Scott’s, London, whose vision and virtuosity makes him a ubiquitous presence on the UK jazz scene; Malcolm Creese, one of Europe’s best known double bass players, bassist for Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine and first choice for some of the world’s top players on tour, and founding member of the widely acclaimed Acoustic Triangle; and Jon Ormston, a highly sought after and infectiously creative drummer whose recording and performing career takes in London Jazz Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony, Guy Barker, Stan Sultzman, Eliot Galvin, and many others.

Tickets will be on sale until 6.30pm on the event date via the Cathedral. website:https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/Event/swing-into-spring
