St Albans Pancake Festival is back and teams should sign up now to take part!

The annual St Albans Pancake Festival makes its much-anticipated return to the city centre on Shrove Tuesday, February 17, and the entire community is invited to take part.

Now in its tenth year, the St Albans Pancake Festival is organised by local children’s charity, Home-Start Hertfordshire, in collaboration with Business Buzz and new pancake race supporter Bonne Maman, famous for its jams, spreads, yoghurts and desserts and red gingham lids.

Teams will showcase their flipping expertise and compete for trophies, awarded to the fastest running and walking teams.

Last year, the festival raised £7,215 which contributed to early intervention support for local families facing vulnerabilities and in need of assistance, helping them to navigate and overcome their challenges. By joining in with this year’s fun, you will make a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of local families in our community.

Teams of four must be pre-booked in advance, with a maximum of two teams per organisation.

Liz Le Coze, business development manager at Home-Start Hertfordshire, said: “We are thrilled to bring the community together again for the St Albans Pancake Festival! It is always a special event in our calendars, and this year will be no exception!

“Welcoming Bonne Maman as headline sponsor is the perfect pairing for celebrating the Shrove Tuesday tradition. We look forward to them joining us on the day to add a touch of ‘Je ne sais quoi’. With their support, we can ensure more of the funds raised go towards supporting local families, when they need it the most. Huge thanks also to Simon George from Business Buzz, who co-organises the event with us.

“The Pancake Festival is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about what Home-Start Herts does and to also raise essential funds to support families going through hard times. We hope to see you all there to enjoy the fun!”

The St Albans Pancake Festival will take place on Tuesda17 th February 17 in the city centre, outside the museum. Registration is at 11.30am and the races start at 12 noon.
