Herts Open Studios 2025, celebrating 35 years of bringing together artists and communities across the county, continues for the rest of the month.
This year’s event features 148 artists and makers opening their doors, studios, and creative spaces to the public until September 28.
Since its beginnings in 1990, Herts Open Studios has grown into Hertfordshire’s largest countywide arts event, giving residents and visitors a unique chance to explore creativity right on their doorstep. From painters, sculptors, and printmakers to ceramicists, jewellers, and textile artists, the event offers an unrivalled opportunity to meet local artists, watch demonstrations, and purchase original, handmade works.
In St Albans there are 71 different artists aking part, including Abigail Lagden, Graham Jones, Margaret Crutchley, Neeta Popat Kataria, Bob Goodall, Gabriela Moad, Jo Cooper, Pip Bicknell, Meggic Nikolic and Lottie Clarke,
Herts Open Studios is run by Herts Visual Arts (HVA), a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting artists across Hertfordshire.
Chair Sally Taylor said: “The incredible milestone of 35 years shows the strength, resilience and vibrancy of our arts community.
“Herts Open Studios is more than an exhibition – it’s about connection. Visitors can meet artists face to face, explore their creative spaces, and discover the stories behind the work. It’s a wonderful celebration of Hertfordshire’s creativity.”
The event is free to attend and open to all ages, encouraging everyone to engage with the arts, whether seasoned collectors or first-time visitors.
