A level results: St George’s School in Harpenden

St George's students collect their A level results

St George’s School in Harpenden is celebrating a record-breaking year of A level results.

More than half of all grades were awarded either A* or A. These exceptional results represent the highest proportion of top grades in the school’s history when examinations have been taken under normal conditions.

They have even surpassed the results achieved by St George’s when it was made the “Sunday Times Comprehensive School of the Year”. The results reflect the determination and talent of its students, alongside the expertise and dedication of its teaching staff.

The success comes across a wide range of academic subjects taken by Sixth Form students, with the vast majority of students having secured their first-choice universities or accessed other pathways into further education and employment.

Students are progressing to leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and other Russell Group institutions. Subjects being taken up include medicine, veterinary, engineering, law, business, maths, languages, the arts, and the sciences.

An increasing number of students have been accepted onto highly competitive apprenticeship programmes with major employers such as Amazon, UBS and JP Morgan, in sectors such as finance, engineering, and HR.

Headteacher Andy Ford said: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements this year. The results are amazing, and a credit to the ambition, commitment, and dedication of our students and staff. Each of them has worked incredibly hard to reach this point, and it is inspiring to see them moving on to such a wide variety of exciting futures. Most of all, I am extremely proud of the students’ character and the people that they have become. We wish them all the very best for the future.”
