Harpenden’s youngsters are once again invited to bring their cuddly companions along to the town’s annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic.
Taking place in the grounds of Rothamsted Park on August 6 from 11am-2pm, the free event is is organised to coincide with National Play Day – a national
celebration of children’s right to play and a campaign to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives.
This year, the Teddy Bears’ Picnic will include a variety of activities and entertainment including Teddy Bears’ Hospital, engaging entertainment by Cha Char Chimps, Story Time by Harpenden Library, outdoor games, Sandy Art, a bouncy castle and soft play, face painting and a fantastic gym show and activities by The Little Gym.
In addition there will be stalls at the event hosted by sponsors, The Children’s Clinic, Neves, Nursery on the Green and Lyndhurst Independent Financial Advisors, plus charities The Human Milk Foundation, James Marshall Foundation and Harpenden Child Contact Centre.
Nursery on the Green manager, Carli Toal explained: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Teddy Bear’s Picnic again this year. This is a fantastic community event which not only brings local people together, but gives children the opportunity to learn through imaginative play, build confidence and socialise in a fun, supportive environment. We’re proud to play a part in creating lasting memories for families, whilst nurturing early childhood development.”
Dr Felicity Taylor, medical director at The Children’s Clinic, providing comprehensive paediatric care for local youngsters, added: “We are delighted to be supporting this much-loved event, and we look forward to welcoming children and their teddy bears to enjoy the day’s exciting activities.”
Harpenden Town Mayor Cllr Beth Fisher said: “Harpenden Town Council is very proud of the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic as a free to attend local event for children. Rothamsted Park is a wonderful setting for the picnic and we love seeing so many children engaged in such a wide variety of exciting activities.
“We have two exceptional local organisations as our Gold Sponsors this year; we are very grateful to Nursery on the Green and The Children’s Clinic for their support which enables us to organise such a wonderful day.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring along a picnic blanket, refreshments, bags of energy and of course their favourite bear!
HTC organisers will be handing out lost children’s wrist bands on the day at the information desk. Attendees will also be able to purchase tickets for Sandy Art and Face Paints.
