Highfield Park Trust have secured funding to support the much-needed repair and resurfacing of the path between the West Lodge entrance and Highfield Lane.
The funding comes from the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund, which supports community and environmental projects within four miles of a Tarmac waste, cement and lime or quarrying site provided they are within 10 miles of any licensed landfill site.
Trust chair Tim Abbott said: “This is fantastic news and we’re incredible grateful to the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund for supporting us again.
“With their support in 2021, we were able to complete the repairs on the Hill End side of the park and we are now able to complete the section running through Monks Meadow on the Cell Barnes side.
“We are particularly mindful of improving accessibility in the park and this improvement will be a massive step in the right direction.”
The work is expected to be completed over the summer and the Trust will provide updates through their website and social media channels.
