St Albans is set to sizzle this summer as The Maltings Shopping Centre hosts The Maltings Summer Sounds – an exciting new evening event packed with late-night shopping, live entertainment, delicious street food, and feel-good summer vibes.
Taking place on Friday June 27 from 6pm to 10pm, the free event promises a vibrant mix of music, community spirit, and special offers.
The centre will transform with live music and DJ sets at the bandstand, alongside a variety of pop-up bars and street food vendors offering everything from global flavours to sweet treats.
“We’re pleased to launch The Maltings Summer Sounds – an exciting new event that brings together our retailers, local businesses and the wider community,” said Richard Marrett, centre manager at The Maltings.
“This event is all about spreading joy and supporting our businesses, so grab your friends and come and sip, shop and soak up the sounds of summer!”
Participating retailers will stay open late and offer exclusive promotions and in-store surprises – including free styling consultations at Clipso hair salon, Henna tattoos at Accessorize and personal styling at Up We Pop.
Local singer–songwriter Grace George, whose music has featured on ITV’s Love Island, will perform two headline sets at The Maltings bandstand. Brilliant Theatre Arts will present a dynamic medley of songs performed by various academy artists, followed by Dirty Stereo DJs with uplifting house music to keep the summer vibes flowing.
Visitors can fuel summer shopping with delicious food from local legends Chicken George, Peddling Pizza, Waffle Wands and Infuse and enjoy a choice of alcoholic and soft drinks from The 3 Brewers of St Albans, Fade 2 Black and Costa.
Local mental health charity Youth Talk will also be part of the event, raising awareness and funds for the vital services they provide for young people in the city, with people able to find out more and donate at their dedicated stand.
Visitors can also enjoy free parking from 6pm to midnight on June 27 in The Maltings Car Park.
