A Harpenden pub has received a donation of a life-saving defibrillator thanks to a local dental practice.
Nicola Hackett, the landlady of The Oddfellows Arms on Leyton Green, had run a fundraising campaign for a defibrillator at the pub, including encouraging donations from regular customers and a Valentine’s Day hearts initiative, but did not reach the target needed for the equipment.
Enter Harpenden Orthodontics on the High Street, who were keen to support the campaign.
Aimee Lai from the practice said: “Following discussions with our head office regarding community support initiatives, we are delighted to announce that Harpenden Orthodontics has been able to donate a high-quality, automated external defibrillator to The Oddfellows Arms. This piece of life-saving equipment will be a significant asset to the local community, providing a crucial resource in emergency situations and contributing to a safer environment for everyone in Harpenden.
“Importantly, the funds already generously raised by Nicola and the patrons of The Oddfellows Arms will now be directly allocated towards the ongoing maintenance, potential replacement pads, and any necessary training associated with the defibrillator, ensuring its long-term usability for the community.”
