A panel of special guests were quizzed about the legacy of Stanley Kubrick following a preview screening of the National Theatre’s production of Dr Strangelove at The Odyssey cinema in St Albans.

Seven-times BAFTA winner Steve Coogan takes on four roles in the stage adaptation of Kubrick’s comedy masterpiece. Directed by Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci and Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley, the classic satire follows a rogue US general who triggers a nuclear attack.

Armando greeted the Odyssey audience with a personal video message ahead of the screening, which was then followed by a Q&A hosted by Helen O’Hara, editor at large of Empire Magazine, and featuring David De Wilde, editor of 2001: A Space Odyssey, actor Giles Terera, who played General Turgidson in Dr Strangelove, Kubrick’s daughter Katharina, and one of the play’s producers, Patrick Myles.

Stanley Kubrick lived at Childwickbury near St Albans prior to his death in 1999 at the age of 70.
