‘Chance to Chat,’ the weekly drop-in at the Morrison’s café in Fleetville, celebrated its first anniversary on Monday with a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress.
The Mayor, Cllr Jamie Day and Mayoress Liz Day, met guests and helpers at the drop-in, organised by the St Albans Anna Chaplaincy, with the Mayor cutting a celebration cake.
Maggie Dodd, the lead Anna Chaplain for St Albans, said: “It’s been great to see such a wide variety of people coming along on a Monday morning. So many people, especially older people and those living on their own, appreciate the chance to come out, have a cuppa and join in a conversation.
“We are really grateful to Morrisons for making us so welcome in the café through the year, and to the Mayor and Mayoress for joining in our anniversary celebration.”
‘Chance to Chat’ meets every Monday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am in the café at Morrisons supermarket on Hatfield Road.
Local ‘Anna Chaplains’ seek to support older people emotionally and spiritually, both in care homes and their own homes, providing help to people of all faiths and none.
