Brewery releases brief statement on Alban’s Well

Alban's Well

Questions still remain over the closure of St Peter’s Street pub Alban’s Well despite a statement from brewery Young’s.

The pub first opened its doors on the site of the old BHS department store in April 2021, but will be calling last orders for the final time today.

In a statement provided to the St Albans Times, a Young’s spokesperson said: “After a careful review of our plans for Alban’s Well, we have decided to close the business from Friday 21st March 2025. We would like to thank the local community for their support over the last four years. We will be in contact directly with any customers who have future bookings with the pub.”

No official reason for the closure has been revealed, although we understand it was due to a downturn in trading.

The leasehold for the pub is already live on Rightmove at a rent of £135,000 with a rateable value of £150K.
