A community group championing Verulamium Park has been resurrected to champion the city’s treasured green space.
The Friends of Verulamium Park group has been formed to give a voice to all park users, working to enhance its wildlife, natural beauty, and archaeological significance while ensuring a welcoming and informative experience for every visitor.
FoVP is holding a launch event at the Abbey Theatre on April 15 at 7pm, with expert speakers talking about ongoing improvements, their impact on wildlife, and future plans.
St Albans MP Daisy Cooper said: “Verulamium Park is a pride of our local area so it’s fantastic to see the launch of ‘Friends of Verulamium Park’ – a new group aiming to protect this vital community space.
“As a historical landmark providing a wonderful place to enjoy nature, and enrich biodiversity, the group will I’m sure work hard to complement the vital work of the district council to make lasting improvements to the park’s lake and meadows.
“I want to congratulate all involved and hope local residents support this brilliant initiative.”
The original Friends group was established in 2000. It held frequent talks and activities and published a regular newsletter, but disbanded more than a decade ago.
